Informationen über Denia an der Costa Blanca in Spanien
Denia
Denia is a city on the east coast of Spain. It lies between Alicante and Valencia in the north of the Costa Blanca. Tourists appreciate the 20 km long sandy beach, which transitions into rocky and stony cliffs near the Las Rotas district. For hikers, the Montgoare Natural Park is ideal; named after Denia's local mountain of the same name, which rises to 753 m, a typical layered mountain that stands alone and culminates at Cabo de San Antonio.
The beaches are certified according to ISO 14001 (responsible for environmental management) and ISO 9001-2000 (responsible for quality management) due to a system of responsible environmental management of nature.
There are two zones of beaches: Las Marinas and Las Rotas.
The Zona Marinas has very sandy beaches: Les Deveses, L'Almadraba, Els Molins, Les Bovetes, Les Marines, Albaranes and Punta del Raset.
The Zona de las Rotas is characterized by its numerous bays (most of them with stones) and by its long coastline: Marineta Cassiana, El Trampolíacute; La Punta Negra, Les Arenetes, La Cala.
Marquesa, for example, is a very popular residential area on Montgomery. In the surrounding area, you'll find Roman, Moorish, and Spanish ruins, as well as, in the neighboring town of Jávea, the Cabo de la Nao with its lighthouse, which offers a view of Ibiza on a clear day. Dénia is also known as the gateway to the Costa Blanca.
The highest point in the city is still the castle, which rises approximately 60 meters above the harbor. In Denia's promenade, Marques de Campo, tapas lovers will find plenty to enjoy. For sports enthusiasts, Denia offers, for example, horseback riding excursions in the Sierras or diving trips in the cliffs of Playa de las Rotas.
A popular holiday destination in Spain. Most tourists come from Spain, followed by the French, Belgians, Germans, and English. In recent years, many people from these countries have also settled permanently in Denia and the surrounding area (especially in the town of Els Poblets) or own a holiday home there. Property prices in the region are therefore at a higher level. Despite the financial and economic crisis in Spain, Denia is very stable, thanks in part to the city government, the mayor, and her administration.
The gastronomy is particularly known for its boiled red prawns. Seafood stew, aioli (a cold cream made with garlic and olive oil), Llandeta (a fish dish with potatoes), and prawns with chard are other typical dishes, as is must made from grape juice and raisins.
The city boasts over 300 restaurants, some of them high-class, and Quique Dacosta, one of the 40 best restaurants in the world (2014).
Festivals:
In August, the typical festival 'Moros y Cristianos' in honor of San Roque is celebrated (August 13th to 16th). Marches and flag-raising ceremonies are held. A highlight of the four-day event is the gala parade, during which Moors and Christians display their traditional clothing.
Other festivals include:
Fiestas de San Agustín en Las Rotas: Festival in honor of San Agustín
Late August or early September.
Feria de todos los Santos (Late October to early November): in
Torrecremada. Festival with various activities such as horseback riding.
Romería a la ermita de Santa Lucía (December 13). Festival that reaches its
climax in the Chapel of Santa Lucía.

Transport Connections:
The town is connected to the two airports of Alicante and Valencia via the AP-7 motorway, Exit 62, with a travel time of approximately 1 hour, as well as the N-332 national road.
